"Chief Paleontologist's log, stardate 52555.1380... What does a new ensign freshly out of the Academy do on such a ship as the Darwin? I've asked myself this question several times. I think I have an answer now though... Do my best at my work, even if a Paleontologist probably won't be much help around here for a while... I guess every ship needs an expendible young man like me to leave behind..." Ensign Alexander Matthew Miller dropped his duffle bag on the large bed in front of him. He pushed a strain of his blonde hair on the side and looked at his face in the mirror near the window. "I'm sure Starfleet sent me here for a good reason but, I guess only the captain knows it right now... Better ask her..." He reached into his bag and took out a small red comb he quickly used to place back his rebel hair in place, "Anyways, she's not so bad so far... I just hope I got a place on this ship... that I'm not just that expendible ensign I mentionned earlier... " He set the comb down and opened a drawer "End Log." he said while he threw the comb in clumbsily. He then headed for the duffel bag on his bed and firmly grabbed a hold of it. He turned to the drawer again and opened the bag and looked inside. "Let's see... Right, my medicine... Can't forget that one," he took a small hypo from inside the duffel bag and set it on his night table. Wasn't it enough to be allergic to most types of coffee, he had to take this just in case he came in contact with the stuff. He turned his attention back to the bag and looked inside again. There were a few objects, PADDs, medical tools, refills for his hypo of medicine... "Man, where's my bag with my uniform..." he threw the duffel bag back on his bed and headed for the bathroom where he had put all his other bags... ===================30 minutes later...=========================== Alex finished placing the last of his pips onto his new ensign's uniform. The blue of his uniform fit well with the blue of his eyes and he seemed to fit the uniform like a glove would fit a hand. He finnally pinned on his commbadge and looked at himself in the mirror again to make sure he didn't look stupid. He cared much about his image although it wasn't the first concern on his mind. Finnally came time to head for the bridge to meet his captain... The moment of truth... ===================12 minutes later============================= Miller stepped on the bridge of the USS Darwin and glanced around at the lights and consols. He peered over to the captain's seat and headed there, noticing someone was sitting at the very place... He stood at attention and saluted the higher ranking officer, "Ensign Alexander Miller reporting for duty sir!" >>Take it away :)<<
